OCCASION GUIDE / RAVE & DARK FESTIVAL
Alt Rave Outfits That Hit
The rave floor has always been alt territory — underground, nocturnal, unapologetically itself. An alt rave outfit is built for movement, for dark environments, and for being the most interesting thing in the room. Fishnet, leather, platforms, and UV-reactive accessories all live here.
The Alt Rave Outfit Formula
Base layer: Fishnet or mesh is the foundation. A Distressed Fishnet Top worn as the main piece, with a bralette underneath for coverage. The open weave catches light and creates visual depth that reads beautifully under club or festival lighting.
Bottom: Black Cargo Pants for utility and movement, or a shredded mini skirt over tights. The goal is ease of movement without sacrificing the look.
Outer layer: A Studded Moto Jacket or cropped leather jacket worn open. Tie it around the waist mid-night when the heat rises.
Accessories: Stack jewelry — a Spiked Collar Necklace, stacked rings, wrist cuffs. The jewelry does the work when everything else is stripped back.
Footwear: Platform boots give you height and presence even on a crowded floor. Combat boots give you endurance. Both work.
Goth Rave vs Punk Rave Looks
A goth rave look leans into atmosphere: sheer layers, dramatic jewelry, dark theatrical makeup. All-black with silver hardware and a focus on texture — velvet, lace, mesh combined in a single outfit.
A punk rave look goes harder: leather, studs, spikes, heavy boots. Less delicacy, more aggression. The fishnet becomes a provocation rather than a texture.
Both are correct. Most good alt rave outfits borrow from both simultaneously — which is exactly where the most interesting looks live.
